Babblefish.com was developed by Johnny Jaskot as a language translation web portal. In 1996 after designing web sites that were localized in 5 languages we decided that a language portal was just what the web needed.  As this project grew we jokingly referred to the project as the Babblefish project. Taken from the book "Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy". According to the book a Babblefish is a small fish when placed in the ear, would allow the wearer to understand any language spoken in the universe.
