@unofficialdear For the second time: 1. I don't find the drawings distracting. 2. I like the drawings. 3. I think the visual element is helpful. 4. However, I do? find THE ARM distracting. For me it gets in the way OF THE DRAWINGS. I find the arm, which I don't want to look at, a distraction from the drawings, which I do want to look at. There are two competing visual stimuli. The drawings communicate. The arm doesn't.

@timtfj I think the point is to attract a wider or more visual audience..and make it kind of fun. If you don't like it, just listen to it? and don't watch the video. To me the drawings aren't distracting, they add a visual element that make it more entertaining, while I'm being taught something. I'm sure if classes where taught like this, people would probably pay more attention.

As this is a video on language uses, it should be noted that drawing what's being said is a way of anchoring attention to the matter, as a faceless voice with no drawings would? be hard to keep up to some people in some moments. It also structurize thinking in a intuitive way that fills up the speech with more than vocal information.

as an american english native speaker, norwegian soumds better to me than danish lol. its funny people in minnesota still have a? scandinavian accent even though theyve been speaking english for manh generatioms, minnesotans are all swedish and norwegian descent, hence my interest in your languages.

@ElectroIsMyReligion Not quite. In Norway we speak a variety of dialects, who all originates from old norse. By no means did the danish 'invent' the norwegian language. Our -written language- however, was heavily influenced from danish that is true. But then again, we have two separate written languages where nynorsk is based on the dialects while bokmål is based? on the dano-norwegian union.

@gopher666 You got a valid point, but what I'm trying to say is that when about 85-90% of the norwegian population writes in bokmål - witch gives a pretty clear indication of the huge influence the danish language has on Norway. What I find strange is that we don't mock your language even though it isn't very pretty (danish? isn't either). I know its a sketch and therefore shall not be taken seriously but I - as a dane can not help but be offended. PS - Don't give me wrong i love norway.

@ElectroIsMyReligion The letters æ, ø and å predate the modern Scandinavian languages,? and originate from Norse. The letter ø, as a result, isn't a compelling argument towards Norwegian's Danish heritage. Also, we are a bilingual nation, divided between Bokmål and Nynorsk. Bokmål originates from Danish. Given Vestlandsguten's username, it is highly likely he uses Nynorsk, which is hardly similar to Danish, but is more reminiscent of Swedish. From Oslo with Love. Kamelåså.

Wonderful! I'm struck by your title,? "In My Language." It seems that the language metaphor gets in the way here. Could I make a suggestion? People for whom language comes easily control their psychological lives by using stories (paradigmatically, plot and character). They live autobiographically. Perhaps others have alternative ways of controlling their psychological lives. Perhaps some use music (paradigmatically, rhythm and melody). If so, then perhaps they live autobio-musically?

Interesting video. I do not see you as sub-human or anything of that nature,? but I am uncertain that I see your language as a meaningful form of primary communication as it is non-standard even among those who are autistic. I mean, if I had spoke a language that only I knew, is it really a language? Thank you for this video. I teach a class of sensory autistic teens and always strive to understand their language and needs and hope that I have never considered my students to be any less of a person than anyone else. But I'm a bit worried about the idea of deficits that has been talked about in these comments. I think that if there are differences,? one cannot consider *either* side to have a deficit. We can only hope to build understanding from *both* sides. I hope to do my part in that.

I'm not certain I get the last joke...Sandy Wilson's version of "The Devils"???? Am I right in assuming that they're referring to the composer of the musical "The Boy Friend" and the scandalous Ken Russell film? I don't think I can come up with two things that could possibly be more disparate...is that the joke? The Sandy Wilson element is obvious, but how does this relate to "The Devils"? This one went about ten feet over? my head, I'm afraid...
